A living room isn’t a living room if it doesn’t have an inviting sofa and in my book to make a sofa inviting you need plenty of plump cushions. If you saw my last post and been following me on Instagram you’ll know I’ve been styling a living room for The house that bloggers built. Lucky for me this included sourcing luxury cushions and I was loaned some beauties for the photo shoot. As my own well-loved (and well licked – don’t ask) Svensk Tenn cushions are in need of a replacement, I’ve had my eagle eye scouring for my own pad too.
From my trawling and hunting here are my favourite luxury (non geometric!) cushions to take your sofa style to va-va voom levels.
Age of Reasons Studio is the creative fashion and home accessories brand designed by Ali Mapletoft just down the road from me in Hove. With a mission to make you look and feel good without exploiting people or the planet, Age of Reasons produces their luxury cushions and fashion products here in the UK. You’ll also find her rather fabulous lips cushion adorning my Orange Slice Chair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort.
Emma J Shipley launched in 2012 when the fashion retailer Browns launched Emma’s graduate collection of printed scarves. As a graphic artist specialising in fine drawing, Emma takes inspiration from myths, legends and the natural world. I met Emma during London Design Festival in 2015 and was immediately drawn to her captivating style. I’m also the proud owner of two of her luxury cushions.
If you haven’t come across House of Hackney before now I wonder if you’ve been living with a remote hill tribe for a number of years? The new fringed versions are serious luxury cushion opportunities.
The collections from Witch & Watchman are my kind of eccentric. Founded 2014 by Helen Wilson after she graduated from Central St Martins and with inspirations that include the Hearst Castle, Miss Haversham’s house in Great Expectations and the Addams Family you know that you’re in for a different perspective on things. The cushions are available in cotton and velvet.
Charlotte Jade is the creative output for sisters Charlotte and Kate O’Reilly. Their collection of hand-drawn designs are already winning fans in the interiors world and they are stocked by in the know retailers such as Amara and Rose and Grey. They also produce a range of upholstery fabric.
Kit Miles cushions will add a whole lot of colour to your life. After completing his MA in textile design at the Royal College of Art, Kit Miles formed his own studio. His patterns embody surrealist imagery and the natural world with a big dose of colour.
Cushions are essential and you can never have enough in my book.
Looking at this I just want a massive sofa to have all this on it !!!! The look absolutely beautiful.
