London Craft Week opened for its second year running this week with a wide range of exhibitors shedding light on the connection between craft and luxury. It’s a wonderful time to see exceptional craftsmanship up close and personal by visiting hidden workshops and seeing unknown makers alongside celebrated masters. Last year the first London Craft Week launched with 70 events. This year there is a packed programme of
activities with 130 events, demonstrations and showcases happening across the city. Visit Londoncraftweek.com for details
Some of my favourites on this years list have includedSaddlery with The King’s Troop here, At Home with Carl Hansen & Son and Mourne Textiles here and Weaving at Ace Hotel here
Still to come this weekend that I’d recommend visiting are:
The Craft of Wallpaper at The Geffrye Museum on until Sunday (book tickets here), Making a LOEWE Handbag here and having been recently to see glass blowing in Murano going to the London Glassblowing demonstrations would be ideal.
Window with a View on Pimlico Road which last year was a roaring success (image above & below showing Linley and Ossowski). Is a chance to see true
creativity and real handmade quality in detail as well as meet some of the
world’s most respected makers and artists here along the Pimlico Road.
If you value craftsmanship, then London Craft Week is one of the month’s must-visit events. I hope you get a chance to pop along as the weather is going to delicious in London this weekend.
