Despatches from Milan Design Week

I’m
so excited to say that I will be heading to Italy for
Salone del Mobile
 on
Saturday. Visiting Salone has been a long held ambition of mine and I can’t
wait for the biggest Design Week for furniture, décor, kitchens,
bathrooms, lighting and not forgetting design installations.

Similar to
London Design Week, the Milan exhibitions are all over the city but anchored by
Salone. To say it’s going to be epic is a little bit of an understatement. More
than an estimated 350,000 people descend on Milan for this particular design
extravaganza.  Paris Maison & Objet
(twice yearly design fair) is practically a walk in the park compared to the
20+ halls at the yearly Salone del Mobile and the associated Satellite
exhibitions and design hubs.

I’ve resolved
myself to the fact that I won’t see everything and that I’m sure to miss some
stellar things but I am not going to let FOMO rule the day.  So I’m firmly bringing my can
do
attitude and I’m only going to wear comfortable shoes (I’ll don
slippers if my trainers don’t live up to expectations) and I am of course going
to say yes to
Prosecco no matter what
the hour.

For this 55th
anniversary Salone I am joining
Modenus’ group of #designhounds. So please keep
you’re eyes peeled for dispatches via
my instagram (I may even be tempted into the
odd periscope) as I tour
Salone delMobile and EuroCucina 2016, as well as the events with the tour sponsors
Liebherr
and
Gessi. You will also be
able to see my fabulous short trip to Venice (I know! I know!) where I will be
visiting the Murano
Seguso glass factory and a private tour of
Fortuny.

With so much design excitement do make sure to stay tuned
to
my instagram for updates.
