Inspired by the Million Dollar Decorator series that started on Bravo (US) last night and a blog post by the lovely Holly at Things that Inspire. I am being swept along in the pizzazz of painted floors.
The Million Dollar Decorator series is about the work and clients of Los Angeles-based designers Kathryn Ireland, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Jeffrey Alan Marks, Mary McDonald and Nathan Turner.
Hopefully it will reach our shores as the trailers/teasers have sucked me in and I’m googly eyed already. In the trailer here Mary McDonald shows a wonderful painted floor (above) in a hallway and dining room.
In her top 10 home decorating tips in Veranda magazine, Mary McDonald made a bathroom floor zing.
“In this master bath the wood floor was originally pretty boring. I knew I wanted something more, so I had it painted in zigzags because I thought it felt fun and now and current. To tie the floors in with all of the marble, I looked at the different light grays in the stone and picked out this one nice shade of almost blue-gray.”
In the meantime here are some lovely ideas to get you hooked…. And if you’d like to know “how” to paint a wooden floor there are some tips at Elledecor.com
