I don’t normally write about cars but I had to share this as I am blown away. Some the world’s rarest cars are owned by Ralph Lauren (who knew?) and highlights from his 60+ collection has gone on show in Paris.
The exhibition “The Art of the Automobile: Masterpieces of the Ralph Lauren Collection” is on show at the Musee des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. It has the worlds only 1930 Mercedes Benz SSK Count Trossi roadster as well as cars by Jaguar, Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche, Alfa Romeo and McLaren. The exhibition presents the cars as magnificent works of art and in the glorious setting of the Musee they do indeed look magnificent, with each car displayed in truly reverent fashion on a pedestal.
Located in the Louvre’s western wing, Musee des Arts Décoratifs is highly respected for its impressive collection of more than 150,000 design objects. For me however it’s the wonderful plasterwork that has truly stopped me in my tracks – a must visit for next trip to Paris in I think.
