The biggest cities across the globe will turn pitch black from 8:30 PM for one hour on 26 March as part of Earth Hour – an initiative by Worldwide Fund for a Nature (WWF), raising awareness about climate change. This initiative started in 2007 and has been growing every year with iconic buildings and landmarks from across the globe switching off – The London Eye, Sydney Opera house, The Empire State Building in NYC, Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.
Earth Hour has done a lot to raise awareness of sustainability issues. But there’s more to it than switching off lights for one hour once a year. It’s all about giving people a voice and working together to create a better future for our planet.
